Simón Arrebola Parras
Torredelcampo, Jaén
His interests as an artist go through the creation of visual narratives where different components such as the temporal development of events and the disposition of characters use drawing, painting and three-dimensional models to devise a spatial typology close to the scenographic. The germ of their stories is nourished mainly by autobiographical experiences and memories, showing themselves as a visual puzzle based on the combination of mythical or cinematographic stories.
He has been awarded in painting competitions such as 3rd Manuel Angeles Ortiz International Painting Prize from the University of Jaén, 12th Paul Ricard Painting Prize, 7th Unia Painting Prize, Focus Abengoa Painting Prize. He received the Seville is Talent scholarship in 2013 by Juan Fernández Lacomba and Antonio López and funded by the Valentín de Madariaga Foundation and the City of Seville that allowed him to carry out a research and creation residence at the ISCP residence in New York showing his works and later in the ICAS. This experience was key in its production since it was impregnated with the architecture and the scenographic conception of many enclaves that the Big Apple possesses. Likewise, in 2008 he also received Iniciarte Creation Scholarship and has made other residences such as at the FBAUL in Lisbon.
His works are among other collections such as the Academy of History and Art of San Quirce in Segovia, the Polytechnic University of Valencia, the César Monzonis Collection or the International University of Andalucía.
